I live in Norway, but have studied tuba in the US.
I looked at some of the response you got on your request, but figured out to write a response instead of reading a lot of strange comments.
You will find a lot of different traditions in all the European countries, regarding what tubas they prefer. Most musicians in Germany use rotary valve tubas, but in other countries there is more variety. So; no clear answer really.
