I'm sure you have plenty of things to chew on at this point, but I'd like to add a couple things.
Of the premier bands, there are TWO groups that do not require the standard "basic training": the President's Own Marine Band, and the Coast Guard Band.
The CG Band will probably not have a tuba opening for at least 4 years; it is currently unknown if we will have a euphonium opening in the next couple of years. Also, the E-6 bands typically draw from the same pool of applicants; Sean was right-on with his comments on that.
