I don't think I would do either. Gregson is better music, but will not wow an audition panel. Broughton is just plain boring to listen to, IMO. How about the Bozza or John Williams? If you are looking for a standard, then the Vaughan Williams, although overplayed in the tuba circles, is still a great piece of music for audiences. Most people have not heard it, outside of the brass playing community. Someone also meantioned Strauss. If the rules of the audition don't limit musical choices then there is a whole other world of music outside the tuba folder to pick from. Most of it is better than what we have. Finally, Michael Lind has commisioned a lot of fantastic Scandinavian composers in the past. Almost all of the stuff I have heard him play sounded like pretty good music.
