I hate to repeat this post -- but there are some extremely virulent posts on the previous thread ....

Harvey bought his horn while studying with Bill Bell at Julliard. Mr. Bell phoned Abe Torchinsky in Philidelphia looking for a tuba that might be right for his student.

Here are Mr. Torchinsky's own words:
"Harvey came down to Philadelphia, tried the horn and loved it ..... I sold it to him for $125. I had paid $175, but figured it was my good deed for the year."

This tuba is NOT identical to the Conn so-called reproductions.
I also have seen pictures of a larger Conn CC which is almost identical to Harvey's horn except for being slightly larger. This horn was bought from a retired tubist from the Baltimore Symphony in the late 1960s.

I think there were some wonderful tubas made by Conn, York, Martin, etc. in the 1930s.
