Kevin, I'm also a euphonium player, and started learning F tuba from scratch about 7 months ago. I also play an Alexander 164 Bb BAT. The F tuba I have is a Yamaha 621 F,
and it is the euphonium players tuba, no doubt about it. You will love it, once you
get the fingerings mastered. It is free-blowing, has a great high register and low
register. I use a Bobo solo mouthpiece on the F tuba, and a Bach 1 1/2 G on the euph.
I've tried a lot of other tuba mouthpieces, but the relatively shallow bowl on the
Bobo Solo gave me the best results. I find that the 621F plays a lot like my euph,
and it is a lot of fun. I continue to struggle to get good clean articulation and
response from the Alex, and it will take a lot longer for me to get to where I am with
the 621F.
