There is a glut of instruments coming in from China and India. In the photos they look quite nice, but most of them (I refrain from the absolute "All" because they're could be an exception) are very poor quality. Intonation is terrible, construction shoddy. Brand names mean next to nothing because names can be changed very quickly without changing the instruments' charactistics. The prices make it very tempting especially for outfitting a young band, but if the bargain instruments fall apart in 1 or 2 years, how will you convince the administration that you need to replace them so soon? This is not to imply that you should buy the most expensive and well known brands, but a known brand with performance recommendations that can be varified would be a better way to go.
