I'm guessing the valves need to be polished, not lapped. Lapping will take off unneeded material while polishing will do just that. The use of a buffing machine makes this easy and can be accomplished by your local professional repair person. After you get the horn home, use some soap and water on the valves to make sure all the buffing residue is removed.

I have a MW2000 and did the same to my valves, but being a repair person I had ready access to a buffer. I also knew that all I wanted was to polish them and no more. The valves should work much better.
