Go to Walmart. I use a mat meant for laying out dishes and such to dry. It comes in a big roll, a variety of colors, and is relatively cheap. It'll provide scratch/dent/slip resitance and is absorbant as well. It is a foamy material made up of little squares. My description isn't that great but you will know it when you see it.

I unroll the sheet, fold it in half, and drape it over my chair. I place a second one on the floor to protect the bell when I'm not playing. When you go places you can just toss it down the bell. Just remember to take it out when you play. It can be a little embarrassing to spend multiple minutes trying to figure why your horn is suddenly so stuffy and the intonation and sound is so wack and have someone pass by to ask why you play with stuff in your bell. ;b

good luck with your new baby!
