I would stay away from wood cases. They might shatter or the wood could crack if used in an airplane. I don't have one (but need one, no money though)but the Walt Johnson cases are supposed to be the best. They are heavily padded fiberglass cases molded for your horn, so that is why they are so expensive. They are basically custom made to fit your horn. I have used my regular hard plastic case over the summer on the plane for a lesson out of my state. I put padding in certain areas, and the horn got to the destination just fine, as well as back home unharmed. So if you use a regular hard plastic case, make sure you reinforce it securely with padding in loose areas, put "Fragile: Musical Instrument" on the outside of the case where the airport people transporting your horn can see it and hope that it will be safe. Good luck.
