I agree with what you say. I've often considered letting marching band be completely voluntary. How much music would I get to teach when I lose my job by having a band of 25? Here in football heaven, a marching band is a requirement to survive. When other directors get together ( in this area), they don't ask how big your concert band is. I have thought about what would happen if I instituted two, ,leveled concert bands with marching band participation as a pre-requisite to be in the top group. What do ya think?
