Why don't you just learn them the same way you learn them on piano? The notes on the lines are GBDFA (don't you remember "Good Boys Do Fine Always"?) Once you know what the notes are, playing them in an acceptable octave is no biggie, and it opens whole new vistas of music. No transposing (except for the octave) required, and the key signature written (as well as accidentals) is what you use.

Reading treble clef brass band literature is a different thing, and might as well be a different clef.
