Considering you can play everything on a CC you can on an F, I would suggest the CC. I play my F primarily for solos and used it only 1 time in an orchestral setting in over 20 years. Then it was just for the fun of it. It wasn't necessary nor requested by the conductor. I used to use 3 different mouthpieces to play the CC. Large for low loud stuff, medium for mid range and a lighter sound, and a small cup for Berlioz, etc. If you have the sound you want in your head, then the mouthpiece will help. That and a medium sized CC. The larger 5/4 and 6/4 horns won't work with this concept nearly as well.
