I've told this story way too many times.
It involves standing in the band room doorway as a 12-year old (waiting for my two sax-playing friends to get their horns) and seeing the band instructor come "bouncing" across the room yelling,
"Oh my God, That kid's big enough to hold a tuba!
The rest is history....
