Do you know the fingerings for the Bb tuba? The open note is BBb right? Well, for CC tuba, the open note is C. So the C tuba is higher than the BBb tuba. For Eb tuba the open note is Eb, and F tuba open note is F. So that's why tubas that are used for solo more are the Eb and F tuba. But they are used in orchestras also as well as smaller ensembles.
