Or you can go to Office Depot and get a messenger bag, put all you stuff in there, and then you can throw that over your shoulder, carry a tuba, and still have a free hand.
This is what I did, and when I collapse my Konig & Meyer stand, it can manage in it too. Along with books, music, mouthpieces, pocket metronome, korg tuner, valve oil, slide creme, spray bottle for the tbone...I do end up carrying my mute though...But how often does that get used?
