Because, most often, the audiences that buy the most tickets are the ones who expect to be entertained -- in this case, they want to laugh or tap their toes. Nobody that I know of giggles during the Ewald (unless one of the players drops something) -- but nearly everybody smiles during "Handful Of Keys".

They're also taking advantage of the possibilities of being live on stage. If all they're going to do is sit still & play, many listeners would be just as happy with a CD. One big reason the Canadian Brass got noticed at all -- and also helped the proliferation of brass quintets since -- is that they would do some semblance of ballet while playing.

Well, that, and the fact that they performed on Sesame Street (which is how my mom learned of their existence).
