King sousa's can be unsoldered in halves and repaired very nicely. My helper did a dozen silver King's for the University of Memphis last summer. They were very badly beaten up because they were made in the 1980's (thin metal) and making the finish look nice again was a challenge because they were all (very thinly-plated) bright silver instead of (more forgiving - old) heavily-plated satin silver.

I think we charged about $1200 apiece (' might be wrong) to yank 'em in halves, remove all dents, clean out the insides, resolder, iron out the bells, and buff the entire instruments with jeweler's rouge (nice buffing jobs, but not absolutely perfect, since no replating/lacquering was to be done).

I'm not interested in soliciting any work at this time, but maybe someone else would charge about the same or a little more. (???)
