Don't get the impression that I'm ashamed of it! I think it plays better than a (un-named) German tuba that a friend from the nearby University let me borrow! My wife (an excellent musician in her own right, better ear than mine for sure) picked the King over the German horn in a blind test.
It's just that I like this horn well enough that I'm thinking it should get a "makeover" for its fiftieth birthday. Based on my research so far, it appears that one could spend 5 times as much as an overhaul and have a horn that's about equal to the one I already have.
