I'll let a tech give you the zillion reasons.

It essentially saves time, energy, and materials (like propane & solder) for any repairs or service to this part of the horn, and therefore will also save you money in labor & misc service costs.

Also, many (most?) shops don't even have a tub big enough for a proper chem clean of an entire tuba. They expend a lot of energy spinning the damn thing around, when all that really needs cleaned is the leadpipe, valve section, and *maybe* the first branch.
