That was a really good price on the earlier model. I tried a CB-50 when they first came out because a philanthropic tuba player here wanted to start his own instrument selling business and he was hoping to base his new business around selling the new CB line of instruments. He was hoping to entice me to buy one and get my endorsement. He had two horns to try and both were pretty similar. For me, both had problems that I couldn't seem to get around. Then he told me the price, $8000.00. I laughed. For that kind of money, I could have bought just about anything (at that time) except a Yorkbrunner. I told him I didn't think he would ever be able to sell those horns for that price and he told me that this was the going rate for that horn across the country. Maybe you caught them just as they were realizing that it was time for a price cut?

My opinion for what it's worth...
