The Besson 982 is an Eb instrument and is still offered by Boosey. It features a high leadpipe for marching use and but for the leadpipe is the same as a 981. Both of these have much larger bells (19") than the 983 (17"). Because it is a front-action horn, the 983 has a significantly different tubing "wrap" than the 981/982.
