A student of mine just bought one of the Miraphone F's over break and brought it to his lesson yesterday. WOW! I was amazed! Not being a huge Miraphone fan myself, I expected it to have that generic bland sound and a crappy low range like the old ones I learned to play on. I was dead wrong! These horns are great. They also have six valves which gives you some better options for fingerings below the staff and has a really nice german f tuba sound without sacrificing the low C-B-Bb range.
I'm not sure I'm going to sell my 45SLP to get one, but I would definetly check them out if I were in the market. They are also available cheaper than they once were due to the strong US$ versus the Euro / Mark.
