Actually, I'm afraid I'm not in the loop enough to know that there were problems with last year's list. If it did seem to favor small tuba, you might consider that the Euoropean tradition is based largely on Bass Tuba (F or Eb) being the bread and butter horn...hence the difference in literature.

As far as not having tuba players or teachers judging the competitions, I think that the idea has merit. I also think that these judges would expect a fee for their services. For tubists, judging at ITECs is a labor of love. No one is paid a nickel.

I respect your right to distrust the system, but I can tell you that I (and I believe nearly every other judge) have no agendas, no expectations of hearing things played "my" way, no instrument bias... genearlly no predisposition to manipulate the results. All I want to hear is great music being made!
