the amount of buzzing depends on how good you are at it in the first place.
You should buzz at the the start, and mix it in as you work on music, buzzing lines that you feel you are not centering.
just be sure you are buzzing musically. the tone should not be pinched, but rather full and a little airy. make the mouthpiece your musical instrument, and buzz long enough that you "forget" you don't have a tuba in your lap.
Take as many breaths as you need, you will should use more air buzzing than playing. Another good idea is to get a BERP, and finger while you buzz.
