Do you remember the "old" (tall/rotary) 2155?
That tuba made some real RACKET, and responded fairly evenly.
Instead of having a bunch of out-of-tune pitches, it only had two horribly out-of-tune ones: 3rd partial G & F#. I'm not saying that it was a very good tuba, but the "punt-and-start-at-zero" thing they've done didn't seem to get them much farther, in my opinion.
