I received delivery of my 56J from Brook Mays last Thursday, and have spent every spare minute playing it. It's really amazing the difference that can be made simply by finding a mpc./horn combo that really works. I played it in ensemble for the first time tonight, and after rehearsal, I had several people tell me that the change in sound that I have from the piggy to the Conn made a big difference in the overall sound of the ensemble. There really is something to this whole German vs. American sound thing. I would never have thought that a horn with a .687 bore would be able to make the sound that I want, but the Conn really does! And I am playing things that I never was able to play on the piggy.
