Well,
Why don't we all learn tuba, playing treble clef? It is tradition, and a cultural thing. Knowledge is power, and the more clefs and fingerings, ie., BBb, CC, F, and Eb, that you master, the easier your life as a musician will be. This became very evident to me when I was in France, performing at an international military band show. We were given bass clef Bb and Eb parts to several pieces for the massed bands portion of the show, and the other tubists in the American band were saying, "What the ___ is this?!" The two of us who played CC used our CC fingerings on the BBb sousaphones, and it was easy enough. The guy who only played BBb, and only concert pitch bass clef, had a bad day.
