Often it seems that when you analyze something to a certain point that you lose the inherent beauty of it. For instance, if you always saw the beauty of a painting and began to study art, it becomes so much more difficult to sit back and enjoy without having to first disect - consciously or unconsciously. Do you guys feel this happens in music?

I often sit back and listen to the works that I used to find so beautiful and moving and barely be able to listen without considering keys, progressions, chords, moves, etc. I used to be so moved by pieces of music that I would find myself in tears during them...now it's just notes, chords, and paper with black dots. After all, didn't high school band sound good when you were in highschool? Now can you even stomach the sound?

Am I crazy? or can someone out there empathize.
