orchestral excerpt to add to "the list"

Compared to other orchestral instrumentalists, the tub[a]ist has very little material to prepare and to keep ready for job auditions. One short little ditty that is never considered on the tuba "short list" is found at circle #10 in the first movement of the Gershwin (piano) Concerto in F. Though quite an easy little "lick" for woodwind players who are accustomed to such things, it catches many tuba players unprepared due to its funny notes, odd accents (which sort of disqualify double-tounguing), and extremely fast speed. You aspiring "paperback readers" (professional orchestral tub[a]ists) might take a peek at that excerpt.

Remember, besides the same list of 20 - 30 excerpts that you see over and over again, there is always included that little phrase: "sight reading".
