For a BBb tuba: BBb is the fundamental, aka the first partial. The second partial is the Bb an octave above it. The third is the F above that. The fourth is the Bb above that, and the fifth is the D above that. You know, the notes that come out without pushing any of the buttons. The notes usually played on the fifth partial are the B, C, Db, and D. Most tubas play these notes flat. The Vespro was a little flatter than usual, and required a little finesse to make sound as good as the rest of the instrument. The problem was manageable.
