I went from euph in 6th grade to CC in 7th. There are MANY advantages of a CC tuba, such as blowing through 1-13 feet less pipe than you would on BBb. On all notes fingered open or 2nd valve, you're blowing through at least a foot less pipe. Why is this an advantage? Take for instance a low C below the staff on a CC tuba. Play it open, then play it 1 2 & 4. Which responds better? Obviously the one with less pipe does. There are NO notes on a BBb tuba (without using alternate fingerings) that you blow through less pipe than the same note on CC. Therefore, in my oppinion, CC tubas are SUPERIOR instruments.
