The ABC orchestras are not the ONLY "pro" orchestras in Australia, therefore there are more than 6.
There are also two full-time opera/ballet orchestras, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney.
Sydney: The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra (AOBO)
Melbourne: The State Orchestra of Victoria (SOV)
Frank Barzyk was at one time the tubist in the State Orchestra of Victoria, and was one of the most fabulous musicians I've ever met/known.
There are other high-quality pro ensembles such as the Australian Chamber Orchestra too, but they're not quite so relevant to Tubenetters as they do not use a tuba player ;-(
