I have several records of John Fletcher playing in both quintets and symphonies and to me he is an ultimate musician and tuba player with one of the best sounds I have ever heard.
I pull the records out and listen every once in a while and I know why I play tuba.
What a hyge incredible sound and what an incredible musician and from what I have learned from talking to tuba players, one of the most humble tuba players ever.
I wish I could have taken lessons from him. Would have been one of my ultimate dreams come true.
