My version is a little different. I was in seventh grade and had been playing euph for about a month and I heard a recording of a euphonium section and solo that didn't suck, but wasn't all that good. They played the Holst 2nd Suite. I was baffled at how a euph section could actually perform with such low standards. I soon found out however that it was a recording of MY BAND! I was appalled. It was then that I vowed to myself that I would never sound that way again.

Hearing great players has never really changed my life, but they inspire me every time. You know you've heard a GREAT player when someone who knows nothing about the instrument can not only comprehend what the performer is doing, but enjoy it as well.
