I personally wouldn't worry about the size of Sam's horn. I would listen to the size of the music coming out of the bell. Please ask yourself if it really matters what you play on. I still hold that if Arnold Jacob's played a 186-4U BBb he would 1) Still sounded as good MUSICALLY AND 2) Everyone would be playing them. I have to wonder if Mr. Jacobs is in heaven worried about the "Cult of personality" a simple tuba has taken. The more we praise that damn York, the more we denigrate the talent that made it speak. Sorry to vent, but this topic really grates on my nerves. Not your fault.
