My teacher still speaks in very glowing terms about a CC/F Alexander double tuba in nickel-silver he had a chance to play in South Africa years ago. I don't recall whom it belonged to.
I've heard others lambast the Alex double, but the idea certainly seems very sound (forgive the pun).
