Balls too big

Yes,

I am sorry I don't know the technical term for these parts, but I was cleaning my horn the other day and I thought now might be a good time to replace the nylon sockets at the end of the linkages on my rotary valve Miraphone CC serial #2234 made in 1963.
However, when I tried to see if I could find the actual part I found that they were extremely expensive. I had heard people were jury-rigging their valves with hobby shop parts, so I went to the different stores and I brought the part of the valve I would need to make sure they fit. However, since it is in older horn, the balls are too big to fit these parts. Now I am not even sure ordering the actual part from miraphone will get me the right size socket to go on these balls. We tried all kinds of ideas, but since the balls are not removable, that is, they are soldered in, or so it seems, and not un-screwable.

Do I have any recourse?

Thanks,

cdo
