Thanks. Its not as nice looking as the work Joe S. does. He's a real artist and has the tools and patience to make a tuba look and play great.
The valves, some leadpipes and branches are from older horns. If it needs a new pipe I get the stock King model and do a little modification. I don't think you can get valve clusters through Allied. So I'm always looking for trashed King BBbs.
One of the nice things about this horn is that it plays real well as a BBb. I know that the CB/G-50 was supposed to do that with the 5th valve locked down. I never thought they really worked out very well that way. For whatever reason this one is a nice BBb too. Maybe its because the 5th valve is after the piston cluster?
Always happy to answer questions about the tubas I put together. Never liked the idea of trade secrets. Boy, do I have some about when I worked as an embalmer's assistant.
