The note you're thinking of in the planets is in Jupiter I believe, towards the end. And it's a D# as I recall. Ride only goes down to an E, I think. And I'm pretty sure I saw a pedal C in a Bruckner symphony once, I just can't recall which one...blast! Although pedal C would be a great note on CC tuba, of course. No offense to the BBb people.
