I don't understand all these responses. I saw one with crumbled edges at the school where my band rehearses, and I attributed it to student abuse. My own DEG stand looks like its been holding up weight for a long time, but it has never crumbled or torn. Have they changed materials over the years? I bought mine over ten years ago and have used it extensively since that time.
