Kevin,
If a Bundy is the best horn you have ever played and the seller wants $10,000 for it, you have come up with the money or keep looking. Every merchant wants your business. You need to find the closest dealer that has several CC tubas for you to try. If you live in a part of the country where that is not possible, consider buying a used one from a dealer. We all offer trial periods. If a horn is just not what you expected, you will only be out shipping.
For a dealer to help you, have the following info ready and tell them.
Who are you?
What have you been playing?
What do you think you are looking for?
What is your price range?
Where are you from (shipping expense)?
When are you going to be ready to buy? No since talking about a steal in a used horn that won't be around in 6 months.
Why? Are you an aspiring orchestral tubist? Do you wish to be a middle school teacher and you are heading to a small teachers college? Maybe a good BBb is what you really need and can afford. I've had customers come in thinking they had to get a CC tuba and all the while, they were wishing they could stay with a BBb. One young man's teacher thanked me for hooking such a student up with a BBb instead of a CC.
BE AWARE if a salesman automatically suggests the same econo import that they try to pawn off on everyone.
YOU are the consumer. YOU have to be happy with your choice, not your college prof.
