Liking this horn now as you state, be aware that it will play differently with the alterations, especially where the leadpipe is concerned. Have you considered selling this one and buying a used 186-5U. There are a bunch out there, though will have the 2-step system which has apparently been abandoned for the more mainstream 1-step. Your horn may have a different leadpipe than 5 valvers, and may be the cause of the sound/feel you like. Try out a 5U and see what you think. They are remarkably consistent horns and will give you a basis for comparison. Compare the leadpipe to yours (especially the bore just past the receiver) and see if you can see the difference. My 185 (185 body,184 bell, leadpipe still unknown) plays fuller and projects better than my stock 186. One of those shouldn't but does things that happens for apparently no good reason! You may gain the 5th valve but loose something else in the process, or might end up with a gem!!

Good luck...
