It's a great all-around horn.

It's really a big 5/4 or a smallish 6/4. Big warm sound, but able to lighten up for smaller ensembles, even a 5tet. But if you really get on it, you could blow out the windows. VERY good intonation. Slots and responds really well. I think the longest solder on the horn is about 1/2" long. The leadpipe and all of the branches stand away from each other. All of the valve slides are accessible with the left hand, but you won't need them. As of October, I had played 3 of the 4 that had come off of the assembly line, and they were very consistent. All 3 were top-notch horns.

I can't say anyting bad about it. I just wish it wasn't $8500 chips.

There are several "all-around" horns that I haven't played. But of the ones that I have played, this one is by far the best.

Your mileage may vary, but probably not by much. And I'm not getting commission as a Kalison rep.
