See my post above re: the Besson G70. It is practically a Bach 3G with a shallower cup, and my experimentation with it supports your statements strongly. I find that the pitch centers sharper when I'm supporting the air stream more like a euphonium player and less like a tuba player. I can't describe it any better than that, but, for the now, the hack saw shall stay in the toolbox.
