I'm afraid so, T-man. It was the gig from hell. It was 167 degrees outside, lots of down time (spent in formation), and lots of very uptight Blue Suits wringing their hands to make sure that the film-makers were getting what they needed.

So the first call was at 0730 if I remember correctly. They let us go to the mess hall at 1230 and we were told to be back on our dots at 1345. By that time it was 187 degrees. The band was a bit suspicious when we showed up back at the field and the Old Guard wasn't there. We ended up waiting for a little bit, maybe until 1437 or so and then Pat Morita reappears back on the set, we're called to attention, given instruments up, and given the direction "Happy Birthday in B flat". So we schlog our way through HB, watch Mr. Morita wax-on, wax-off his birthday cake and head back to the building.

All in all, a character-building day.
