Okay, so this is kind of one of those "he didn't just ask that" questions...but here I go...

Where do you all put your left hand when you're playing the tuba? I play a Rudy CC Piston...and I put my hand wrapped around the brass about half way up the side of the horn. I haven't received many comments, but a few have said that it almost makes my playing look tense with my hand there. A friend of mine puts his hand against the tuba, but down on his lap, giving it a more relaxed look. Is there any kind of "standard" place to put your hand, or does it really matter?

I'm just curious as to where you all put your hand. Please refrain from slapping me if you think this question is too terribly absurd. haha.
