Things certainly did change in 4 years!!! I auditioned in Albany for Robert Irving who was the conductor that summer. I played the 1st movement of the VW. He had me sight read inner parts to the ring(out of a score!!!). Bummer about your rep. The summer of 76, another guy from Rome, NY, John Vito was there. John Vito was the greatest high school tuba player I ever heard, to this day, but that's another story. He got stuck doing The New World in Albany and at SPAC. The other pieces were "tuba-less" as well. I lucked out, got to do Meistersinger, Dvorak 8, Firebird(didn't perform it) and Tsciak 4th. Orchestra was the only thing going on. There was a small Wind Ensemble, but it was us and the counselors. I still have notes from my lessons. PK was a great teacher, focused on music. I was able to find the recording(and my All-State ones) at my Mom's this summer. I hd them transfered to cd, they are a great memory.
