Formerly the Vienna Philharmonic used an instrument in this style. The weight problems were the same as yours. So a hook was mounted on the music stand.
If you have got a K&M tuba playing stand, then you could some form of foam pillow between the forks and rest the bass bone on it.
Any ideas of the price level?
