Aimless practicing will get you nowhere. Sure its fun to play all those melodic etudes and such, but to improve, one has to face certain facts. It takes a great amount of shear tedium. The best book I can attest to is Claude Gordon's SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO DAILY PRACTICE in bass clef. just take it down an octave.

This is a book on how to practice. It shows the student how to develop an embrochure of great range and flexability. It's nothing like most of the trial and error teaching methods that produce such appalling results, concerning breath control and embrochure. I'm certain that in six months of diligent use of this book, you will notice a tremendous difference in your playing.

Good Luck, Kenny Jay
