I don't think you can find a better large ensemble horn than the Rudolf Meinl 5/4 CC. It produces a large round sound but one with life to it. It is also suprisingly agile for its bore size (.868 I think). I got mine used for $5000 and it has been a joy to play. I think many people who recommnd other horns so strongly have never tried a large Rudy. Having played comparable new horns for $10-12000 I can't understand why someone would not at least test play a Rudy. just my two cents.
